Jeroo Billimoria is currently Managing Director of Child and Youth Finance International(CYFI). Jeroo is considered among the world’s leading social entrepreneurs and is launching her ninth entrepreneurial venture. She is an Ashoka, Skoll and Schwab Fellow who recently presented her work at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Among these are Childline India and ChildHelpline International which have facilitated a global movement for protection of children and youth and which are both up and running in more than 120 countries – having responded to over 160 million calls. Through this, Jeroo and her CHI team were able to incite policy change – The United Nations International Telecommunication Union adopted a Supplement recommending one number for all toll-free helplines in all countries, the only NGO to have achieved this.
Her other organization, Aflatoun, has been recognized among the world’s top 50 NGOs. In a space of three short years, Aflatoun succeeded in working with global partners to provide social and financial education to over 1 million children in 83 countries across the world.
In the Netherlands, Jeroo has been recognized among the leading women in the Dutch charity sector by the Dutch magazine ‘Opzij’ (2010: ranked 2nd, 2011: ranked 9th), and among the Netherlands’ 50 most influential international residents by the Dutch magazine ‘the International Correspondent’ (2012: ranked 37th, ranked 2nd most influential Indian expat).
Jeroo is taking the concept of financial inclusion and empowerment for youngsters to impact systems change through her newest global organization, Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI). The Child and Youth Finance Movement is set to ensure financial inclusion and ChildFinance Education for 100 million children and youth in 100 countries by 2015 by working with international stakeholders and experts around the world including multilateral and bilateral agencies, financial institutions, regulatory authorities from over 70 countries, NGOs and many more.
